Many people believe that abuse does not happen in “developed” countries; however, statistics will show us the error in that thinking.

Either people are scared to report abuse and believe is not there: “nearly 3 million child abuse reports are made every year” (National Child Abuse Statistics). This statistic portrays the mistreatment that occurs yearly to innocent children. The United States has the worst records among any other nation, losing about four and seven children every day to child abuse (National Child Abuse Statistics). Daily children are being lost. This information creates a long-term and short-term impact on children, adults, and teenagers.
Many parents are without enough education to find better alternatives to raise a child. The lack of educational resources has made a dramatic impact in the United States. For persons 25 years of age and older, over 27.5 million have not graduated high school (America's Children: How Are They Doing?). Many adults in the United States have not received an adequate education. This shows that if parents are not exposed to discipline methods parents will never know, what they are doing is affecting their children’s mental and physical health. Parents who lack knowledge of variety parenting skills can change they way parents discipline their children. If a parent is not informed of mental and psychological affects that impact a child, parents would not use abuse as an option. By parents having prior knowledge it can be an advantage and benefit for their family and children. Also it can avoid the cost of paying for psychologist.
